Talks and workshops
We frequently give workshops and lectures in a wide variety of circumstances – from giving the closing talk at the 2015 Interactive Conference of the DocLab at IDFA, to a back room workshop on storytelling at the Interactive Telecommunications Programme at the Tisch School of the Arts in New York.
Here’s just a few of the places we have talked and subjects we have explored. We also create bespoke interactive experiences for conferences and festivals to try and bring the real bit of INTERACTIVE into the room.
“From TV to Tangible Media: Making Interactive Work” Norwegian Documentary Conference
“Moving and Being Moved” IDFA Doclab Conference
“The Invitation” idocs, Bristol
“A Glitch in Time” IDFA DocLab Live Event

What people said;
ENTER THE LABORATORY
Beautifully designed immersive or interactive stories can have a profound impact on makers and participants alike. Learn how to magically enhance the most important stories of our time in the Anagram Laboratory.
“ANAGRAM is a wonderful concoction of storytelling and immersive entertainment design. Working with them is a truly collaborative and creative process – their involvement on a commercial project opened my eyes to the power of their craft, and the possibility it holds for new technologies.”
DAVID BRUNO, CREATIVE LAB, GOOGLE
The Anagram Laboratory has visited a wide range of places – and we have acted as both workshop leaders and creative consultants to projects already well underway and heavily guarded by official secrets treaties. Among others, we have worked with Google Creative Lab, The Guardian, BBC Arabic, IDFA DocLab Academy and On Our Radar. In each situation, our involvement has been different – we do what is needed. This could be 1 conversation, or a whole week workshopping a project in distress.
“I found Door Into The Dark to be a transformative experience. The experience of being blind in the environment that the Door Into The Dark team created was so powerful that when I exited the project I had a whole new relationship to my body and my other senses. I carry that experience with me. It forced me to confront myself and learn more about how I would handle the unknown. I have been through many immersive experiences at festivals and Door Into The Dark definitely stands out as one of the most powerful. I will never forget it.” SARAH WOLOZIN, MIT OPEN DOCUMENTARY LAB
Playful places, enchanted things
A 2 or 3 day locative storytelling hackathon using geo-locative sensor technology (GPS and iBeacon); an opportunity to develop an experience that explores how layers of digital content can invisibly subvert the experience of an ordinary place, or tells locative stories that pack a meaningful punch.
Behind the buzz: interactive and immersive storytelling
A 1 day workshop drilling into the real meaning behind the most overused words in the emerging industry of tech-enabled storytelling. What is “interactive” – and what isn’t – and what story is worth transforming into an immersive experience and why?
Holding the red thread: tactile storytelling
A 1 or 2 day workshop that explores the use of touch and the meaning of objects within storytelling, using sound and RFID sensor technology.
WE ALSO RUN WORKSHOPS FOR KIDS!
Anyone can tell wild, and wonderful stories. Anagram brings out the playful and creative side of children of all ages by using simple structures, silly technologies and a lot of fun, to empower, energise and entertain.
MODEL LABORATORIES FOR KIDS:

Suitable for ages 4 – 10.
The monster mash
A 1 or 2 day workshop to make your own talking monster, using hacked up old toys, and the secret power of ventriloquism (as enabled by tiny MP3 players).
