For the festival that celebrated 5 years of REACT, The Rooms , we assembled an army of 3 – 10 year olds and built a cardboard city.
With string and gaffer tape, material and marker pens, a metropolis made of cardboard boxes was born.
With an oil rig, underwater castle, homeless shelter, Better Foods Company (changed from Asda by a beady-eyed mum), various sweet factories, rocket launcher, garage, a few prisons, lots of roads and floating clouds in the sky, this city was fertile ground for all who came for one day of REACT’s festival of celebration. It grew from one street to a whole functioning universe with an ocean border, a steady stream of toy car traffic going all day and a sun god suspended in the sky ruling over all.
A new cardboard city will appear on another horizon somewhere soon.
